About the role

The Co-Director works alongside the other Co-Director, the Foresee Team, the Board and our partners. The role is broad by nature. Some days may involve shaping a new project or funding proposal; others may involve reviewing a budget, meeting with a community organization or helping a programme move forward.

We are therefore looking for someone who can see the bigger picture without losing sight of the details. You should be comfortable taking ownership, asking good questions, making sound decisions and working collaboratively. You do not need to know everything on day one, but you should be willing to learn, follow through and treat the foundation’s relationships and responsibilities with care.

What you will help us do

• guide the strategic direction and long-term sustainability of the foundation together with the other Co-Director and Board;

• identify opportunities and help turn them into relevant, realistic and fundable projects;

• develop and strengthen grant applications, project plans, budgets, reports and evaluations;

• build and maintain trusted relationships with NPOs, community organizations, funders, government and private-sector partners;

• help oversee projects, budgets, contracts, deliverables and accountability requirements;

• support programmes in capacity building, education, culture and community development, including NPOwer and the further development of the Impact Hub;

• strengthen the foundation’s internal systems, documentation, teamwork and continuity; and

• step in where needed with the practical, hands-on spirit that is part of working in a small and committed organization.

The right person may come from the non-profit sector, project or programme management, organizational development, education, culture, public service, social entrepreneurship or another relevant field. More important than having followed one particular career path is the way you work and the values you bring.

You may be a good fit if you:

• lead with integrity, discretion, fairness and a strong sense of responsibility;

• can think strategically while also getting the work done;

• have experience developing or managing projects and understand fundraising, grant applications, donor reporting or project accountability;

• are comfortable working with budgets and can make responsible financial decisions;

• build relationships with sincerity and can work respectfully with different people, sectors and perspectives;

• communicate clearly in English; Dutch is an asset;

• are resourceful, dependable and able to turn ideas into practical next steps; and

• can work constructively with a Board, colleagues, partners and the wider community without needing to be the centre of everything.

 

Hours and compensation

Foresee Foundation currently operates largely through project funding. The role is intended for approximately 15–20 hours per week and compensation will be linked to approved management and coordination budgets, grants and other available income. There is room for the position to grow as the foundation’s projects and funding grow.

We know that meaningful work should also be respected as professional work. The exact scope, contract form and conditions will therefore be discussed openly with the selected candidate so that expectations, responsibilities and compensation are clear and realistic. While this may not offer the salary structure of a larger institution, it does offer the opportunity to take on a meaningful leadership role, help shape an important community organization and contribute directly to work that matters in St. Maarten and the surrounding islands.
